Great Plate

I am in love with these simple ceramics designed by Scottish designer Donna Wilson, and its fair to say the cat plate will be soon purchased for my ever growing 'plate wall', its far too nice to put food on top of it! Unfortunately I just missed one of her exhibitions (which always seems to be the way with me!) at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, but I shall be keeping my tiny eyes and ears open for the next one!

CONFESSIONS OF A DESIGNER

These posters created by designer Anneke Short couldn't be any more spot on when it comes to certain preconceptions about what designers think and do. I'm sure any kind of designer can relate to these quotes and I think they would be particularly good to hang in the studio so certain clients can understand its not that easy this designing mullarkey - if you eish to do so you can purchase them here.

Geometric

I love these geometric fabric designs by Suzanne Antonelli. Designed digitally and manually with different printing techniques making some very pretty and unusual patterns that are sure to grab the attention of anyone. I would love a couple of cushions (not that I haven't got enough already) in some of these patterns, I've just picked a couple of my faves but there are plenty more to view at her website here.

'life is sweet'

I love the branding and design for 'Cioccolato', a little pastry boutique that specialises in custom deserts for special events. I like how the interior of the shop is kept simple, clean and white with a few quirky splodges of chocolate sliding off the displays - letting their intricate and vibrant deserts do the talking. The brand was created by design studio Savvy who's website features lots more lovely work like this.

Tinsel and tassels

I have fallen head over heels for these gorgeous decorations designed by Confetti System. They are so unusual and eye catching and I love the use of pastel colours and gold together.  I may have to dream up an excuse for a party just so I can decorate the whole house with them, or I could just keep a sneaky sparkly pinata in the corner of my room - either way something from their equally as gorgeous website will be purchased!

Lighten Up

I love these quirky light bulbs designed by Plumen - 'The worlds first designer energy saving light bulb' - so not only do they look great but they also save energy! I especially love the bulb being used in the desk light, it's a lovely finishing touch which I might have to add to my own lamp - making the bulb also the design feature rather than just the shade.

Stocking Fillers!

As Christmas is fast approaching upon us I took to my laptop last night and started the Christmas shopping!
I really enjoy looking for presents that people will really love, something that's a little bit different.
I came across this lovely Design and Art Sketchbook from Magma, designed by creative agency Studio8.
The book is full of useful tips and measurements and is the perfect gift for any creative mind this christmas....
I may even have to buy myself one!

On yer bike

 

Since my partner and I moved out of town and more towards the countryside we saw it fit to buy some bikes so we could ride down the local canal and go exploring, it's unfortunate these little beauties weren't for sale when we went to purchase them at Halfords! These are just a couple of the bikes that have been customised by some celebs in a collaboration with London's W Hotel for the new 'WOW Bikes' initiative which launched last night in Leicester Square. My favourite design of the bunch is that by Alice Temperley (Last pic - currently trying to get a wicker basket for my own bike!) the other designers joining her are singer Paloma Faith, Patrick Cox, Ron Arad (Second pic) and Natasha Law who has collaborated with Benedict Radcliffe. Whats even better about these bikes is that the guests of the hotel can ride them free of charge before they are auctioned off in aid of Elton John's AID foundation. I better get on and book a room....
